EXPERIENCE
Warren E. Friedman focuses his practice on construction law and real estate counseling and litigation. Mr. Friedman places particular emphasis on providing strategic business counseling to his clients designed to prevent costly disputes before they arise. However, when disputes do arise, Mr. Friedman’s extensive litigation experience ensures a cost-effective and aggressive solution.
His clients include owner/developers, institutions, contractors, construction managers, and sureties on both private and public projects. Mr. Friedman also has extensive experience with licensure issues, surety relations, negotiating and drafting various contract documents, monitoring the construction process during construction, regulatory compliance and counseling clients through project administration and crisis management.
In the past, Mr. Friedman has worked with his clients on a variety of matters including breach of construction contracts (non-performance, terminations, abandonment and project delays), construction defects (structural soundness issues, water intrusion and building component failures), property damage and environmental impacts, construction liens and bond claims, and issues involving concrete, stucco, drywall, waterproofing, roofing, plumbing, electric, site work and other building elements.
Mr. Friedman frequently represents clients in complex mediation, arbitration and litigation proceedings, and his general litigation practice includes contract and business related disputes.
Mr. Friedman also has a special interest in the real estate arena, where he counsels real estate owners/ developers and investors in a wide array of areas including acquisition, development, financing and disposition of commercial, hotels, marinas, multifamily and mixed-use properties. In addition, he represents owners and users in commercial leasing transactions.
While in law school, Mr. Friedman was a member and editor of the Nova Law Review and served as a judicial intern for both United States Magistrate Judge John J. O’Sullivan and United States Court of Appeals Judge Adalberto Jordan.
